Her story is of particular interest to NCIS fans because her appearance created a rare opportunity for Sean Murray to share the screen with his real-life daughter.

Early Life and Background
Caitlyn Melissa Murray was born in 2007 to Sean Murray and Carrie James. Her father was already an established actor, having appeared in television and film before becoming widely recognized for his long-running role on NCIS.
Despite Sean’s public profile, the family has generally kept its children out of the entertainment spotlight. As a result, detailed information about Caitlyn’s childhood, upbringing, and early interests is limited.
Her public profile became more noticeable when she appeared on NCIS as a teenager. The casting brought attention to her connection with the series, but she has not maintained a constant public presence or shared extensive details about her personal life.
Education
Caitlyn’s educational background has not been comprehensively documented by authoritative public sources. Although some online biographies make claims about her schooling or performing arts training, those details are not sufficiently established to present as confirmed facts.
Her appearance on NCIS demonstrates that she has had experience working on a television production. It does not, by itself, establish a particular educational background or long-term career direction.
Caitlyn Melissa Murray’s Acting Career
Why Is She Also Known as Cay Ryan Murray?
Caitlyn is professionally credited as Cay Ryan Murray for her appearance on NCIS. Public entertainment databases associate that name with Caitlyn Melissa Murray, although the reason for the difference in names has not been reliably explained in a direct public statement from her.
The distinction matters for viewers searching for her acting work: her best-known credit appears under the name Cay Ryan Murray rather than Caitlyn Melissa Murray.
Her Appearance on NCIS
Caitlyn appeared as Teagan Fields in “The Brat Pack,” an episode from Season 19 of NCIS that aired on May 2, 2022.
The episode follows an investigation involving a group of teenagers and break-ins connected to a Marine base. Caitlyn’s guest role placed her in the same series where her father has played Timothy McGee since 2003.
The appearance was notable because of their real-life family connection. Sean Murray was an established member of the show’s cast, while his daughter was making a guest appearance in the same production.
However, one television credit does not establish an extensive acting career. No substantial filmography or confirmed long-term acting plans have been widely documented for Caitlyn.
Who Is Caitlyn Melissa Murray’s Father?
Sean Murray is an American actor best known for playing Timothy McGee on NCIS. He joined the franchise through an appearance on JAG before becoming a regular on NCIS in 2003.
His portrayal of McGee has taken the character from a junior agent to a senior member of the Major Case Response Team. Over the years, the role has made Murray a familiar face to television audiences worldwide.
Murray has also appeared in productions including Hocus Pocus and JAG. Despite his long career in entertainment, he generally keeps details of his family life separate from his work.
Caitlyn’s guest appearance on NCIS is one of the clearest public connections between his professional career and his family.
Who Is Caitlyn Melissa Murray’s Mother?
Caitlyn’s mother is Carrie James, an educator, entrepreneur, and activist. James has worked in education and founded the Prestique Academy of Innovation and Technology, a school focused on gifted children and students with learning differences.
She has also pursued business initiatives supporting women entrepreneurs. Her professional work is distinct from Sean Murray’s acting career, although both parents have been connected to the broader Los Angeles community.
Sean Murray and Carrie James married in November 2005 and have two children, Caitlyn and River. Their separation and subsequent divorce were reported publicly, but details about their private family arrangements should not be assumed beyond what has been reliably reported.
Does Caitlyn Melissa Murray Have Siblings?
Yes. Caitlyn has a younger brother named River James Murray, born in April 2010.
Their parents have generally protected both children’s privacy, so details about their relationship and everyday family life are limited. River has not developed a widely documented public entertainment career.
Personal Life and Public Profile
Caitlyn has kept a low public profile outside her NCIS appearance. There is little reliable information about her current interests, relationships, employment, or plans for the future.
Her connection to a well-known actor has led to online interest in her biography, but that attention should not be mistaken for evidence of an extensive public career. Her most clearly documented professional milestone remains her guest role on NCIS.
There is no reliable public confirmation of her marital status or a long-term romantic relationship. Claims about those topics should be treated cautiously unless supported by credible reporting.
Caitlyn Melissa Murray’s Net Worth
Caitlyn Melissa Murray’s personal net worth has not been reliably established. There are no credible public financial disclosures or independent estimates that support a specific figure.
Her father’s success on NCIS should not be confused with her own finances. Without verified information about her earnings, assets, or ongoing professional work, assigning a net worth would be speculative.
